Drop a Word file on the Word viewer. It opens.
DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, DOT, DOTX, DOTM, DOCM and OTT. 15 MB per file. Deleted after viewing.

Need it as a different format instead? Word to PDF, Word to JPG, Word to PNG. Those take DOC and DOCX only.
Which extension did you get
Four of the nine carry most of the traffic, and they are four different things inside.
- DOCX — a ZIP archive of XML. The current format since Word 2007.
- DOC — the old binary record format. Word 97 to 2003.
- RTF — markup in plain text. Any word processor reads it. No compression, so pictures make it large fast.
- ODT — the OpenDocument equivalent, written by LibreOffice and OpenOffice.
Renaming the extension changes nothing. A DOCX called .doc is still a DOCX.
Why it does not look like the original
Fonts are named in the file, not stored in it. Swap in a substitute and the text rewraps, so the page count moves. Nothing to fix at your end.
Page numbers, dates and a table of contents are fields. They display the result of the last refresh in Word, not a current one.
When Word files refuse
It asks for a password. The upload box has a password field. Type the open password there and the document renders; without it, nothing can.
It says restricted or read-only. Different mechanism, not encryption. It opens.
Over 15 MB. Almost always images. In Word: File, Compress Pictures, save, and upload again.
A .docm. Accepted. The macros do not run.
Comments and tracked changes appear. They are in the document. Accept the changes in Word before sending it on.
A .doc that nothing opens. Word 95 and earlier used a different binary format under the same extension. Convert it in a copy of Word that still reads it.
The Word viewer opens all nine extensions. The Word converter takes DOC and DOCX, and returns PDF, JPG or PNG.
