Frequently Asked Questions OnlineDocumentViewer.com

What is OnlineDocumentViewer.com?

A browser viewer. Upload a file, read it in the page, close the tab. It renders 70+ extensions, needs no account and installs nothing. It is not an editor, not a storage service and not a document management system.

Is OnlineDocumentViewer.com Free?

Yes, entirely. No sign-up, no payment, no tier above it and no quota. The pricing page has two lines: this viewer at zero, and a commercial licence for teams that want the same renderer inside their own software.

Which Formats Are Supported?

70+ extensions across seventeen viewers, each with its own size limit.

Documents

DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, DOCM, DOT, DOTX, DOTM and OTT up to 15 MB; PDF up to 25 MB.

Spreadsheets

XLS, XLSX, CSV, ODS, XLSM, XLSB, XLTX and XLTM, up to 20 MB. The sheet renders at full layout: column widths, merged cells, number formats, embedded charts. Formula cells show their results; macros never run.

Presentations

PPT, PPTX, ODP, PPTM, PPSX, PPSM, POT, POTX and POTM, up to 20 MB.

Images

JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WEBP, AVIF, TIFF, SVG, ICO, DNG, CDR, CMX, TGA, EPS, EMF, WMF, JP2 and PSD, up to 25 MB.

The rest

Visio (nine extensions, 25 MB), Microsoft Project (MPP and MPX, 20 MB), email (EML, MSG, EMLX, 10 MB), CAD (DWG, DXF, DGN, 10 MB), EPUB (25 MB), and HTML, XML and text (5 MB).

One deliberate absence: DICOM. .dcm and .ima belong to a separately licensed plugin for the SDK, not to a free upload page.

Privacy and Security

Here is the mechanism, rather than the adjective:

Storage

The document is processed for the session that is reading it and deleted from the server afterwards. There is no account, so there is no library, no history and no second copy.

Transfer

Uploads and page requests run over HTTPS. Rendering happens on our servers, which means the server reads the file while it draws it — there is no end-to-end encryption, and there cannot be while a server does the rendering. For documents that may not be read by a third party at all, the Doconut .NET SDK runs inside your own infrastructure.

Certification

None. No ISO 27001, no SOC 2, no HIPAA attestation. If your policy requires a certificate, this tool cannot provide one.

When a File Will Not Open

The extension is not on the list

Seventy-odd extensions are accepted. Anything else is refused at upload rather than half-rendered.

It is over the limit

Every viewer has its own ceiling and the error names it. 25 MB for PDF, PSD, Visio, EPUB, TIFF and images; 20 MB for Excel, PowerPoint and Project; 15 MB for Word and RTF; 10 MB for CAD and email; 5 MB for HTML, XML and text.

It is password-protected

Type the password into the field under the upload box. A password-protected PDF is the exception: that has to be unlocked by whoever set it.

It is damaged, or misnamed

A blank page after loading usually means the extension does not match the contents. Rename it to what the file actually is and try again.

Mobile

The rendering happens on the server, so a phone shows the same output as a desktop. The layout is responsive: zoom, page navigation and printing all work on a small screen.

Support

The free viewer has no per-file support desk. If a document will not open, the checks above cover almost every case: wrong extension, over the size limit for that format, or a damaged file.

For questions about privacy or data handling, the address on the privacy policy is sales@doconut.com. Teams licensing the Doconut SDK get a direct support channel as part of the licence.

Thank you for using OnlineDocumentViewer.com. Free, no account, nothing kept — that is the whole arrangement, and this page is the honest version of it.
