Microsoft Project Viewer: Open MPP and MPX in a Browser

Open Microsoft Project files in the browser. MPP and MPX, up to 20 MB, no Project licence and no account. It renders the plan; it does not edit it.

Microsoft Project files need Microsoft Project, and most of the people who have to read a plan do not have it. OnlineDocumentViewer.com opens MPP and MPX in a browser tab instead.

From construction and engineering to marketing, IT services, and manufacturing, businesses across industries can benefit from the simplicity of OnlineDocumentViewer’s project file viewer.

MPP and MPX, up to 20 MB

The Project viewer takes .mpp and .mpx, up to 20 MB per file. Upload the plan and it renders in the browser: tasks, dates, dependencies and resource assignments as the file holds them. The file is deleted from the server afterwards. No account, nothing to install.

.mpt, the Project template format, is not accepted — the rendering engine has nothing that reads it, so taking the upload would only waste your time.

What this buys you:

  • A plan a stakeholder can read without a Microsoft Project licence.
  • A plan a colleague can read by uploading it here, instead of an attachment nothing on their machine opens.
  • No install on the machine of whoever you send it to.

Who needs this

  • Construction and engineering: field teams and contractors read the schedule without a Project licence each.
  • Marketing: a deadline-driven campaign plan, readable by everyone on it.
  • IT and software: a plan circulated for review rather than for editing.
  • Manufacturing: production timelines shared past the planning office.

What it does not do

It renders. It does not edit. Nobody can move a task, re-level a resource or change a date here — the plan you upload is the plan you read. Send the MPP back to whoever owns it for changes.

There is no account, no plan and no upgrade on this site. The Doconut .NET Library is the paid product: the same rendering engine, licensed to embed inside your own application so your users read project files without leaving it.

Drop an MPP on the Project viewer and see what comes back.
