If you have ever installed a plugin, or a whole application, to open one file somebody sent you: OnlineDocumentViewer renders 70+ extensions — PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, PSD and more in a browser tab. No download, no registration, and the file is deleted from the server afterwards.

Core benefits
| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Zero installation | No downloads, no plugins, no registration. |
| 70+ extensions across seventeen viewers | PDF, DOC/DOCX, ODT, XLS/XLSX, ODS, PPT/PPTX, ODP, DWG/DXF/DGN, PSD, EPUB, images, email files, Visio and Project. |
| Server-side rendering | The browser receives pages, not the original file — which is why a DWG opens on a phone. |
What happens to the file
It is uploaded over HTTPS, rendered on the server, and deleted when the session ends. Nothing is stored, there is no account and there is no library to come back to.
Where the ceiling is
There is no single site-wide limit. Each viewer sets its own, because a CAD drawing and a text file do not cost the same to render:
| Viewer | Limit |
|---|---|
| PDF, PSD, Visio, TIFF, EPUB, images | 25 MB |
| Excel, PowerPoint, Project | 20 MB |
| Word, RTF | 15 MB |
| CAD, email | 10 MB |
| HTML, XML, plain text | 5 MB |
Over the line, the upload box refuses the file and says why, rather than accepting it and failing later.
What it does not do
No annotation and no markup. No editing. No batch upload — one file at a time, no ZIP and no queue. No OCR: search reads a text layer, so a scanned page returns nothing. Those capabilities belong to the Doconut SDK, which is a different product.
Who ends up here
| User | Typical file | What the viewer gives them |
|---|---|---|
| Students | Lecture PDFs and PPTX on a tablet | Reads on any screen; search works on text PDFs |
| Architects and engineers | DWG, DXF, DGN from a colleague | Layers switch off one at a time; distance, angle and area can be measured on the drawing |
| Legal professionals | Contracts in PDF or DOCX | Read a contract on a machine with no Word or Acrobat; text search on documents that carry a text layer |
| Marketing teams | PSD comps and high-resolution images | PSD opens without Photoshop, as the composite that was saved |
The viewer is a web page, so the device and the operating system stop mattering.
Key Takeaways
- 70+ extensions across seventeen viewers, free, with no account and nothing to install.
- The size limit is per format, not per site: 25 MB for PDF, PSD, Visio, TIFF, EPUB and images; 20 MB for Excel, PowerPoint and Project; 15 MB for Word and RTF; 10 MB for CAD and email; 5 MB for HTML, XML and plain text.
- Send the file, not a link. Each upload belongs to one session and is deleted when it ends; the recipient uploads it here themselves and needs no reader of their own.
- Read, zoom, print, search a text layer, and toggle CAD layers. No annotation, no editing, no OCR — those are elsewhere.
