A file arrives and the machine in front of you has nothing that opens it. The free Online Document Viewer renders it in a browser tab and deletes it afterwards. Here is what it covers, where the limits sit, and what it does not do.

Multi-Format Support
Seventeen viewers, 70+ extensions between them: PDF (25 MB), Word DOC/DOCX/ODT/RTF (15 MB), Excel XLS/XLSX/CSV/ODS (20 MB), PowerPoint PPT/PPTX/ODP (20 MB), CAD DWG/DXF/DGN (10 MB), PSD (25 MB), Visio (25 MB), Project MPP/MPX (20 MB), EPUB (25 MB), email EML/MSG/EMLX (10 MB), the common and raw image formats (25 MB), and XML, HTML and plain text (5 MB).
The ceiling is set per format rather than once for the site. It is a fixed catalogue too: when a format is not on it, the upload box says so instead of accepting the file and failing later.
Rendered on the Server
The document is rendered on the server and the browser receives pages, not the original file. That is why a DWG opens on a phone with nothing installed on it, and why nothing inside the document — a macro, a script in an SVG — executes on your machine.
No Installation Required
No software installation, no download, no plugin. Open the page for your format, upload the file, read it.
What you can do with an open document
Zoom, fit the page to the window, page forward and back, jump to a page number, print, and search where the document carries a text layer. CAD drawings add layer control and measurement of distance, angle and area.
What it does not do
- No annotation or comments. Nothing writes on the document. That belongs to the Doconut SDK, which is the same engine licensed for embedding in your own software.
- No editing. It renders; it does not change anything.
- No real-time collaboration. Two people opening the same file separately are reading, not co-authoring.
- No OCR. A scanned page is a picture of text, and search returns nothing on it.
- No batch. One file per upload — no ZIP, no folder, no queue.
- No account and no paid tier. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to upgrade to.
File Privacy and Security
The file is uploaded over TLS, rendered on the server, and deleted when the session ends. No account, no library, no second copy — which is a shorter privacy story than any retention policy, because there is nothing left to retain. No certification backs it: we hold none.
Mobile Accessibility
The viewer is a web page, so a phone, a tablet and a laptop all work and the operating system stops mattering.
Conclusion
70+ extensions, a size ceiling per format, free, no account, and the file gone when you close it. Start at the viewer hub and pick the page for your format.
