A file arrives and nothing on the machine opens it. OnlineDocumentViewer.com renders it in a browser tab — PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, PSD and more. Below: what it opens, where each limit sits, and the things it does not do.

What is OnlineDocumentViewer.com?
OnlineDocumentViewer.com is a free website that renders a document in your browser so you do not need the application that made it. Seventeen viewer pages, 70+ extensions between them, no account and nothing to install.
Supported File Formats
It is a fixed catalogue, not "anything":
- Text documents: DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, and the DOT/DOTX/DOTM/OTT variants
- Spreadsheets: XLS, XLSX, CSV, ODS, XLSM, XLSB, XLTX, XLTM
- Presentations: PPT, PPTX, ODP, PPTM, PPSX, PPSM, POT, POTX, POTM
- CAD: DWG, DXF, DGN
- Photoshop: PSD
- Visio: VSD, VSDX and seven more
- Project: MPP, MPX
- eBook: EPUB
- Common images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, WEBP, JPE, AVIF
- Vector and raw images: TIFF, TIF, SVG, ICO, DNG, CDR, CMX, TGA, EPS, EMF, WMF, JP2
- Email: EML, MSG, EMLX
- Markup: XML, HTML, HTM, MHTML, MHT, XPS
.dcm and .ima — DICOM — are deliberately outside this site.
PDF, up to 25 MB
Upload a PDF and read it: page forward and back, jump to a page number, zoom, fit to window, print. Search works on a PDF that carries a text layer — one written by a word processor does; a scanned page is a picture of text and returns nothing.
Word, up to 15 MB
DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF and five more extensions open with layout, styles, images and tables in position. One caveat: fonts are named in a document rather than stored in it, so a font missing from the rendering server is substituted, the text rewraps, and the page count can shift.
Excel, up to 20 MB
Column widths, merged cells, number and date formats and embedded charts render. Formula cells show their result, not the formula text. Every sheet opens, not only the active tab. It is a viewer, so there is no sorting and no filtering — read the numbers, do not change them.
PowerPoint, up to 20 MB
PPT, PPTX, ODP and six more. Each slide renders as an image, so transitions and animations collapse into one frame, video gives you the poster frame, and speaker notes do not appear.
CAD, up to 10 MB
DWG, DXF and DGN. Layers switch off one at a time, and distance, angle and area can be measured on the open drawing.
PSD, up to 25 MB
What renders is the composite Photoshop saved — masks, blend modes and adjustment layers already applied. There is no layer panel to toggle, and PSB is not accepted.
Rendered on the server
The document is rendered on the server and the browser receives pages, not the original file. That is why a DWG opens on a phone that has never had CAD software on it, and why nothing inside the document — a macro, a script in an SVG — executes on your machine.
Upload and read
Drag and drop the file, or use the upload button. One file per upload: no ZIP, no folder, no queue.
No installation, any device
Desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. It is a web page, so the operating system stops mattering, and there is nothing for IT to approve.
What it does not do
- No editing, annotation, highlighting or commenting. Nothing writes on the document.
- No signing and no redaction.
- No OCR. Search reads a text layer; a scanned page returns nothing.
- No storage. No account, no library, no history. The file is deleted when the session ends.
- No batch. One file at a time.
- No embedding. The site cannot be dropped into your own product; that is the Doconut SDK.
Conclusion
Seventeen viewers, 70+ extensions, a limit published per format, free, no account, and the file deleted when you close the tab. It views. That is the whole of it, and knowing where it stops is more useful than a longer feature list.
Open the viewer hub and pick the page for your format.
FAQs
How do I upload a file? Drag and drop it onto the viewer page for its format, or drop it on the home page and it is routed for you.
Can I view CAD files? Yes — DWG, DXF and DGN, up to 10 MB, with layer control and measurement.
Is there a file size limit? Yes, and it is set per format: 25 MB for PDF, PSD, Visio, TIFF, EPUB and images; 20 MB for Excel, PowerPoint and Project; 15 MB for Word and RTF; 10 MB for CAD and email; 5 MB for HTML, XML and plain text. Over it, the upload box says which limit you hit.
Can I share a document with someone? Send them the file; they open it here with no reader of their own. There is no shareable link to your open document — each upload belongs to one session and is deleted when it ends.
Can I annotate, edit or sign a document? No. It renders. Annotation belongs to the Doconut SDK, a different product for developers.
Can I search a scanned document? No. Search reads a text layer; a scan is a picture of text and there is no OCR here.
Do I need to install anything? No. It works in the browser, with no plugin and no account.
Is it free? Yes, with no paid tier. The commercial product is the Doconut SDK.
